Divine Providence, Polish National Church was located on 15th Avenue and Maryland Street. The parish was organized in 1939, and attracted many Central District Polish families. Today the parish is located on West 57th Avenue in Merrillville.
To keep the community informed of local servicemen during the war, local newspapers featured daily stories of their exploits. Pictured are three of the four Trafny brothers who fought in both theaters of the greatest conflict in the history of the world. (Courtesy of John Peck.)
